Today as part of our second PBIS lessons, the team participated in the drafting of a Social Contract. (Interestingly enough, we will learn about the original Social Contract later this year!) Students came up with ideas that should be a part of this contract. Each idea was discussed by the entire team and voted on. When we were done, every member of the team, teachers included, signed the contract. Students will be expected to uphold this contract; failure to do so will result in infractions.
Overall it was a pleasant experience to hear these young 7th graders develop this contract. It is obvious that most have a sound moral foundation...good job, parents! ;-) For those who were not at Meet the Teacher or if you misplaced the papers, they are attached below. Please take the time to review these as they contain important information for a successful school year. *Students will earn stamps from me for signing up for Remind (20 stamps if a parent signs up and 10 if the student signs up). Also remember that all beginning of the year paperwork for the district is digital this year. Please make sure you complete these forms as soon as possible. If you are like me, not having a physical copy in front of you can cause it to be forgotten.
As I am working on my lessons and calendar, I thought I would go ahead and share these dates with you all so you can prepare. Monday, August 26, 2019 is the first day of school but it is also Women's Equality Day in the United States. Check out this short video in honor of this momentous day! Thursday, August 29, 2019 is the first official day of our first unit, Where in the world are we? Thursday, September 12, 2019 is the date of our first post assessment marking the end of unit 1. Wednesday, September 18, 2019 Teacher Workday Friday, September 20, 2019 I will be absent, chaperoning a field trip to the mountains with my daughter's third grade class.
